Mohamed Salah speaks out after claims that Liverpool star's World Cup is over

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has taken to social media to insist there has been no disagreement with the Egyptian football association despite reports in his homeland that he will not play in his country's final World Cup match.
Salah's World Cup dream has quickly turned into a nightmare.
After leading his nation to their first finals of his lifetime (their previous appearance came in 1990, two years before he was born), it was feared that Salah could miss the tournament due to a shoulder injury inflicted by Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos in last month's 3-1 defeat in the Champions League final.

Uruguay's 1-0 victory over Saudi Arabia later that day condemned The Pharaohs to a first round exit with a game to spare and there are now suggestions that Salah won't even feature in their dead rubber in Volgograd on June 25 amid rumours that he had complained over the number of high-profile people who have been given access to the team.
Writing in Arabic, Salah declared on Twitter: “Everyone in Egypt is together and there is absolutely no disagreement between us. We respect each other and the relationship is great.”
However, Egyptian sports journalist Karim Zidan countered: “Egyptian media is now reporting that, due to the conflict between Mo Salah and the Egyptian football association, the star player is refusing to play the final Egypt match against Saudi Arabia. Plans to leave early.
“Mo Salah has since tweeted the Egyptian team remains united but reports continue to come out from Egypt that suggest otherwise.”

Liverpool transfer finally agreed, Can will undergo medical on Thursday morning at Juventus

According to Goal Italia’s Romeo Agresti, Emre Can’s transfer from Liverpool to Juventus is finally agreed. The 24-year will undergo a medical on Thursday morning. Liverpool announced Can would be leaving the club at the end of his contract this summer after naming him on their released list submitted to the Premier League.
The Merseysiders have already replaced the German international with the signings of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig and Fabinho from AS Monaco. Both central midfielders will provide steel in Can’s absence. Jurgen Klopp certainly isn’t lacking in the engine room, as he’ll also have Georginio Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana, James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to choose from next season.
Can made 167 appearances and contributed 26 goals in all competitions for Liverpool after joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014. In his final season at Anfield, the 24-year-old made 38 appearances across the board. His last showing was in the Champions Leaguefinal defeat to Real Madrid. Can was a decent servant for Liverpool, but the manner of his exit won’t win him many supporters.
The midfielder turned down Liverpool’s attempts to sign a new contract, despite them enjoying a surprise Champions League run to the final in Kiev and having the potential to challenge for major honours next season. Time will tell if he made the right decision.

Jose Mourinho will break his Manchester United transfer policy to sign Willian this summer, according to a report.

The Manchester Evening News is reporting that the Red Devils are interested in a bid to sign the Brazil international from their bitter Premier League rivals Chelsea FC in the current transfer market.
The same article states that Manchester United have attempted to sign players at the age of 27 or under since the Portuguese head coach took over the reins at Old Trafford apart from a couple of notable exceptions.
According to the same story, Mourinho would be willing to sign the South American attacker despite the Portuguese head coach previously stating that he wouldn’t sign a forward in the summer transfer window.
Willian finished the season out of favour under Chelsea FC manager Antonio Conte to raise questions about his long-term future at the FA Cup winners.
The Chelsea FC star hit out at the Italian head coach on social media after he was left out of the west London side’s starting XI for their 1-0 win against Manchester United in the FA Cup final last term.
The Blues finished in fifth spot to miss out on Champions League football next season.

Mourinho willing to agree $132.7m transfer of 22-year-old star

Anthony Martial has now been given the go-ahead to leave Manchester United but that will strictly depend on the type of offer received from his suitors.
The Frenchman was snubbed for the World Cup after seeing his playing time reduced, following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez.
Martial has asked to leave the club with his agent recently telling reporters that his client wishes to play elsewhere next season.
Manchester United are desperate to keep hold of Martial, but they have now decided he can leave if an offer of $132.7million (£100million) is made, according to the sun.

Real Madrid's new boss asks for four signings ahead of 2018-19 season

With Zinedine Zidane out of the picture, Real Madrid will start working under a new boss this summer. Coach Julen Lopetegui's homework includes dealing with those players that will leave the club, but even more importantly, those that will take their places.
Los Blancos' new manager has already given Florentino Pérez his wishlist for this summer's transfer window, which includes at least four signings. According to Spanish website Don Balón, Lopetegui wants to focus the team's reinforcemente in the lower half of the pitch, since three of his proposed signings are aimed to strengthen the defense.
The first order of business for Lopetegui will be to sign a goalkeeper. Although Alisson Becker seems to be getting closer by the minute, Lopetegui wants Florentino to make an effort to sign David De Gea. Lopetegui knows the shot-stopper very well due to their time together with Spain, and ever since his shocking appointment last week, several media outlets suggested this possibility.
Lopetegui's next moves will be focused on bringing defenders to the Bernabeu. The first one involves Spanish right back Alvaro Odriozola, who's been on Real Madrid's radar for almost a year, and who has also been coached by Lopetegui in La Roja. His $46M buyout clause makes him a rather cheap choice, given his age and skills. The other signing would involve a center back, with Jerome Boateng's name being linked with a move to the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid's final transfer this summer would have to do with a striker, and Robert Lewandowski's name has been linked once again with Los Blancos. Bayern München execs have been pretty clear about their intentions to keep the striker around, but that doesn't mean Florentino Pérez will cease and desist easily.

Lopetegui plots to say goodbye to the "BBC Attack"

With these moves, Lopetegui's tactics would change Real Madrid's landscape, and that change would mean that the BBC will no longer be a thing at the Bernabeu. The Basque boss is keen on using the 4-4-2 formation, giving Isco complete freedom as the team's playmaker, and his decision would see Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema leaving the club. Added to their names, Keylor Navas and Raphael Varane may be shown the exit door, while right back Achraf Hakimi is sent on loan to help him develop his skills.
We'll maybe have to wait for the end of the World Cup to find out if these rumors are true, but there seem to be signs of truth behind all these words.

Mohamed Salah delivers message ahead of Egypt vs Russia

MOHAMED SALAH has declared he is ready for Egypt’s second World Cup clash against Russia

Salah was on the bench for Egypt’s opening game against Uruguay, with head coach Hector Cuper not willing to take a risk with the forward after his shoulder injury during the Champions League final with Liverpool.
Egypt missed the cutting edge Salah can provide as they suffered a last-gasp defeat to Uruguay.
“Mo Salah is an extremely important player for us, nobody can deny that, but you need to have a good team, and we have a good team,” Cuper said.
“Perhaps if Mo had been on the pitch today the outcome would have been different but we can't know that.
We wanted to avoid any risks in this match, but I think he will be fine for the next game.”
The Liverpool superstar is widely expected to feature against hosts Russia tomorrow.
And Salah has delivered an inspiring message to Egypt fans ahead of facing Russia.
He posted a video to his Instagram page with the caption: “Ready for tomorrow. 100 million strong.”
You would think all those people, all that pressure to perform, would be too much,” he narrated over a film of Egypt’s journey to the World Cup finals.
“It can crush a player. But that’s not how I see it.
“These are my people. They’re not a weight on top of me.

Liverpool star Salah is on Real Madrid’s radar following a stunning first campaign at Anfield.
The Egypt international struck 44 times for the Reds, driving them to the Champions League final in the process.
There, Real Madrid went on to take the title with a 3-1 victory after Salah hobbled off for Liverpoolfollowing a collision with Sergio Ramos.
Despite that, the Egypt international remains on Real’s agenda.
And Spanish outlet Don Balon say Salah is refusing to rule out a stunning move to the Bernabeu.

Mohamed is fit’: Salah set for World Cup debut against Russia

Hector Cuper looks certain to unleash his most potent weapon for Egypt’s pivotal Group A clash with Russia on Tuesday, after technical staff have confirmed Salah's availability.
Liverpool forward Mo Salah, who scored 44 goals last season, will almost certainly make his first World Cup appearance against hosts Russia, after his agent Ramy Abbas Issa tweeted on Sunday that "Mohamed is fit".
Salah, who turned 26 on Friday, suffered a shoulder injury in last month’s Champions League Final against Real Madrid following a challenge by Spanish defender Sergio Ramos. It was initially feared that the injury would rule him out of contention for the tournament.
Egypt coach Hector Cuper appeared to confirm that Salah would play some part in his team’s World Cup opener against Uruguay but the Liverpool man remained on the bench in the 1-0 defeat but Egypt's team manager Ihab Leheta confirmed on Sunday that their star player will be on the pitch.
"Salah participated in training with his teammates for the entire session and he is ready to play against Russia, according to technical staff," he said.
The Russia game will be difficult because of our defeat against Uruguay. Winning is our only option."

World Cup 2018: France beat Australia 2-1

Paul Pogba scored a late goal to earn France a hard-fought 2-1 win against Australia as technology played a major part in their opening World Cup Group C game on Saturday.
Midfielder Pogba, who was criticised after recent below-par performances, found the back of the net with a lob after a fine one-two with second-half substitute Olivier Giroud nine minutes from time, the effort being confirmed by goal-line technology.
Antoine Griezmann converted the first penalty to be awarded by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) at a World Cup in the 58th after being brought down by Josh Rishdon, only for Mile Jedinak to level, also with a penalty, after Samuel Umtiti handled.
Peru take on Denmark in the other Group C match at the Mordovia Arena in Saransk later on Saturday.

WE DIDN'T WANT TO RISK FURTHER INJURY' - CUPER JUSTIFIES SALAH ABSENCE AFTER URUGUAY REVERSE

The Liverpool star was missed in a narrow reverse on Friday, but his coach wants him in top condition against Russia and Saudi Arabia
Hector Cuper says playing Mohamed Salah against Uruguay was not worth the risk with two key Group A games remaining at the World Cup.
A blunt Pharaohs side were beaten on their return to the World Cup, as Jose Gimenez's 90th-minute header belatedly gave Uruguay reward for their dominance in Ekaterinburg.
And while Cuper acknowledged that the lack of a clinical touch in the final third cost Egypt, he preferred not play Salah - despite earlier suggesting he would - in order to ensure he will be available for the coming matches against Russia and Saudi Arabia.
The decision is always taken by myself and the staff - especially in the case of Mo," Cuper told a news conference.
"We were quite certain in the training session that he would be able to play. At the end of the training session, he was examined by the doctors and there was some doubt.
"If he fell or was hit by another player, we thought he might get another injury. We wanted to avoid any further injury. The odds were important.
"We decided not to take that risk. We want to be sure we can have him on top form against Russia and Saudi ArabiaCuper preferred not to speculate about how Salah's presence might have affected the result, though.
He said: "Mo Salah is an extremely important player for us. That's beyond any shadow of a doubt - nobody can deny that.
"But I need to stress that you need to have good players but also a good team. I think Egypt are a good team.
"Perhaps if Mo had been on the pitch, the outcome would have been different. But we don't know that. He has contributed a great deal to the team and will in future matches."

RONALDO SETS ANOTHER NEW RECORD WITH EARLY PENALTY AGAINST SPAIN

The Real Madrid star has now scored in no less than four World Cups and eight major international competitions with Portugal
The records just keep tumbling for Cristiano Ronaldo as he set a new international landmark just minutes into his World Cup campaign on Friday.
Ronaldo has become accustomed to seeing the records fly over the last decade due to his remarkable goalscoring ability at Real Madrid.
But he is also no slouch at international level either, striking early to put Spain on the back foot
After just two minutes the forward won a penalty off club team-mate Nacho and made no mistake in executing the spot-kick himself, sending David de Gea the wrong way.
The goal was the fastest in a World Cup game since 1966, when Jose Augusto scored after 1:35 against Hungary and also sealed an incredible record of consistency over Ronaldo's career.
Ronaldo has now scored in eight consecutive major international tournaments - including World Cups, European Championships and Copas America - a feat no European or South American player has ever achieved before.
He also becomes the fourth man to score in four World Cup finals, having previously netted in 2006, 2010 and 2014.

The Spain international suffered a rough night in his World Cup opener against Portugal, but has committed to the Premier League side, ending Real Madrid's hopes of luring him to La Liga.

RONALDO IS STILL PRICELESS FOR REAL MADRID AND PORTUGAL, SAYS SALGADO

The Santiago Bernabeu legend is backing a talismanic forward to continue his starring role for both club and country in the years to come
Michel Salgado says Cristiano Ronaldo is unsellable for Real Madrid, while he worries about the threat that the Portuguese superstar will pose to Spain in a crunch World Cup clash on Friday.
The 33-year-old won the Champions League for a fifth time as Madrid overcame Liverpool 3-1 in May, but it was Gareth Bale who proved to be the match winner on that occasion as he scored twice off the bench.
Immediately after the match, Ronaldo shocked the world by casting his future into doubt as he referred to his time with the Blancos in the past tense. Salgado, though, who played for 10 years at the Santiago Bernabeu, believes that Ronaldo is still the best player on Real’s books and will be kept on this summer.
After what I have seen in the last season, why would they move Ronaldo out of Real Madrid? He is still there in the key moments," Salgado told Goal during the Betfair Road to Russia preview. "We are talking about scoring always in quarter-finals, semi-finals, and knockout stages. When you need him he is there.
"To be honest, he is performing fantastically, he knows to save his energy for the big moments. He knows his body, he knows his head. He is a real professional guy. He is working hard to be the best.
"Cristiano is a guy who has to work hard every day to be in there and he is doing it. He is an example in terms of professionalism and, for me, obviously he has to stay in Real Madrid for as long as he wants. He is so much for us.
"I wanted to see Real Madrid without him for one big game in the Champions League because we never miss him. Obviously it would be really, really different. When he is in there, the opposition defenders are shaking, they know he is in there. It is stupid to say he is too old or whatever.
"Obviously he is getting mature, he is 33 years old. The physicality is dropping of course. The speed, the pace but he has got something that I don’t think right now that any other player has got. This is the smell to score goals. He has got something special when it comes to the goal.
"He always puts the ball, at the right time, at the right moment into the goal. That’s something that is priceless right now in football."
Salgado won four league titles and two Champions League trophies during his time with Real Madrid and is considered to be a club legend. He also played 53 times for Spain, including in the 2006 World Cup, but missed out in 2002 due to injury.
The 42-year-old says this World Cup represents Ronaldo's last chance to win the highest honour in international football, though he thinks the Portugal star's great rival may have a shot at playing in 2022.
"It is going to be difficult for Cristiano Ronaldo to get there in the next World Cup," Salgado said. "Maybe [Lionel] Messi has one more, probably yes. It is one of the last chances they have got to win the World Cup. That’s what the World Cup is all about.
"Messi and Ronaldo, they know it. They know they have got their last chance to try to win it and that’s why it is going to be an amazing World Cup."
Spain's opening game against Portugal will see six Spanish Real Madrid stars possibly facing their club team-mate. Salgado thinks both sides will be desperate not to lose in their opening match and that fear could therefore creep into each side's play.
"To be honest [Ronaldo] is unlucky that we have got our first game against Portugal," Salgado added. "There is a rivalry because we are neighbours. There has always been a big rivalry in there and Cristiano Ronaldo is in there. He is our main player in Real Madrid. He is our soul so, for us, it is difficult to see us playing against Cristiano Ronaldo.
At the same time because it is a tricky group, whoever loses this game will have a lot of pressure for the second and third game. I see this game with more fear to lose it than action and belief and passion to win it. It is the first game, we know it is difficult and the first game is always important in the World Cup for the way you are going to progress.
"Let’s see what happens but I am going to tell you, if you lose the first game in this group, it is not going to be easy because you have got Iran and Morocco in the second and third games. I know both teams and to be honest, they are going to make our lives complicated."

DROGBA TOLD ME TO BREAK PREMIER LEAGUE RECORD' - MOHAMED SALAH

During the 2017-18 campaign, the Egypt international broke the Ivorian legend's record in the English top-flight
Mohamed Salah currently holds the record for the most goals scored by an African in a single English Premier League season, and reveals that he had the blessings of former holder Didier Drogba.
The Egypt international enjoyed a surreal debut season at Liverpool, scoring 44 goals in all competitions, winning several accolades including the PFA, PWA and EPL Player of the Year awards.
32 of his goals came in the English top-flight - an all-time record - and on his way to reaching the milestone, he eclipsed Drogba's feat of 29 in the 2009-10 campaign after scoring against Bournemouth in April.
And the 25-year-old has revealed that as early as February - when his goal in the Reds' 2-2 draw against Tottenham saw him hit the 20-goal mark - he informed the Chelsea legend of his aim.
“When I reached 20 goals, I spoke with Didier Drogba,” Salah told L’Equipe Magazine.
“He told me: ‘Please, break the record!’ to which I responded laughing: ‘No worries, I will!’
“And I managed [it]. So I thought to myself, I have quite a few games to play before the end of the season, I can break the all-time record! It’s a great source of joy for me.”
Salah, in Russia with Egypt, will hope to shake off his shoulder injury woe - picked in the Uefa Champions League final against Real Madrid - to feature in the Pharoah's opening 2018 Fifa World Cup fixture against Uruguay on Friday.
